The Buffalo Brewing Company in Sacramento, California was founded by Herbert Grau in 1888, but the first beer did not reach the shelves until the mid-1890s. One of several breweries in the city at the time, it was located at 21st and Q streets, where the Sacramento Bee now stands. It closed in 1897 but evidently reopened later because the company survived Prohibition and wasn't dissolved until 1945. Original advertising and collectibles are hard to find today.
