Named after the Connecticut River, the word is derived from an Algonquian Indian term meaning "long tidal river." One of the original 13 colonies and one of the six New England states, Connecticut is the third smallest state by area. Nicknamed the "Constitution State", it is also called the Nutmeg State, the Provisions State, and the Land of Steady Habits.  Postcard is brand new and in mint condition.
